| The now 10th annual Music In Motion 5K race was created by Sterling
orchestra director and avid runner, Barb Lauff. Mrs. Lauff and the
Sterling orchestras hold the belief that no child should be excluded from
music education due to financial restraints. As a member of the
Starved Rock Road Runners, the Cornbelt Running Club, Rockford Road Runners,
Rock River Striders,
and President of the locally based Rock River Road Runners, Barb has gained experience as a
volunteer and participant to create a 5K run in Sterling.
Combining both music and running seemed a natural union; thus
the orchestra's fall fundraiser is created with the Music In Motion race.
All the proceeds from the race go toward the purchasing and maintaining of instruments by
the Orchestra Parents Organization, and distributed to students on an as-need basis. Our goal is to have a library of instruments, supplies,
and books to be available to any student in need.

11th Anniversary
in honor of our Veterans
Veterans Day is observed on
November 11th, which is the anniversary of the signing of the
Armistice that ended
World War I. Major
hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day
of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of
the Armistice. Thus shall
we honor our veterans at the 11th running of the Music in Motion 5K in 2011.
